THE PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION ACT “POPIA” PRIVACY POLICY

The POPI Act is a new privacy law, effective from 1 July 2021 in South Africa and designed to protect people’s private information. It covers the sourcing, usage and
storage of personal Information relating to “natural persons”.
According to the POPI Act, personal information includes but is not limited to:

• Information relating to the race, gender, sex, pregnancy, marital status, national, ethnic or social origin, colour, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental health, well-being, disability, religion, conscience, belief, culture, language and birth of the person;
• Information relating to the education, medical, financial, criminal and employment history of the person;
• Names, surnames, nicknames and identifying numbers, email addresses, physical addresses, telephone numbers, location, online identifiers and the like;
• Biometric information of the person;
• Personal opinions, views and preferences of the person;
• Correspondence sent by the person that is implicitly or explicitly of a private or confidential nature or further correspondence that would reveal the contents of the original correspondence;
• Views or opinions of other individuals about the person.
  The POPI Act ensures that people’s personal information is appropriately protected, used only for the purposes it was obtained, and in a manner that facilitates transparency around:
  1. What companies and other entities do with their clients’ personal information;
  2. Why and how this personal information is processed (collection, usage, sharing, disposal, storage and archiving etc.);
  3. Who the personal information is shared with (third parties locally and internationally, legal entities etc.);

Personal Information

1. Your personal information will not be collected, collated, processed, or disclosed by LOGME without your express written consent unless we are legally required to do so.
2. Your personal information will only be electronically requested, collected, collated, processed, or stored by LOGME if it is lawful for us to do so.
3. Should your personal information be required, LOGME will disclose to you in writing the specific purpose for which it is needed. Furthermore, we will not disclose your personal information for any purpose other than the one disclosed to you, nor will we disclose any of your personal information to a third party without your express written consent, unless it is required of us by law.
4. LOGME will keep a record of your personal information and the purpose for which it was used.
5. We will take all reasonable steps to ensure that your personal information is kept confidential and secure by storing it in our secure database.
6. LOGME keeps all financial information it records strictly confidential and will not disclose it to any third party with no right or title to the information.
7. We will endeavour to take all reasonable and necessary precautions to secure access to your transactions.
8. Your use of the LOGME website is solely at your own risk.
9. LOGME will not be held liable for any personal information that you disclose to a third party whose link may be found on this website. Ensure that you refer to that third party’s privacy policy before you disclose any of your personal information.
10. The LOGME website may use cookie and tracking technology, whereby information you send whilst on the site is saved on your hard drive and the LOGME website will know who you are when you next visit. This technology is useful for gathering information such as browser type and operating system, for tracking the number of visitors to our website and for understanding how visitors use the website. Personal information cannot be collected via cookie technology.
11. LOGME may use your information for marketing purposes and send you promotional material or details that it thinks may interest you. However, you will always be allowed to instruct us to refrain from doing so and have us remove your details from our mailing list.

This privacy policy may be amended from time to time without any notice to you. Use of this website by you will at any time automatically bind you to the privacy policy that is current at that moment.
